2016 Lincoln MKT – Review and Release

Lincoln Motor Company was last refreshed MKT SUV 2011. Then, at the LA Auto Show launched in 2013 MKT. The vehicle received a significant exterior and interior changes, and drive units were upgraded to provide more power output. Meanwhile, the Lincoln brand has offered new MKC SUV and the redesigned 2016 Lincoln MKX SUV. The same way as MKX model, is expected to go up and 2016 Lincoln MKT SUV.

This full-size luxury SUV was introduced back in 2008 at the NAIAS in Detroit. As a 2010 model appeared on the market and it is the second Lincoln’s crossover model. MKT is placed above the MKX mid-size crossover, and below the larger Ford Expedition SUV. T character in the name is an abbreviation of Touring. It is set on the Volvo-designed D4 platform, used by the Ford Flex and Ford Explorer SUV models, and as such has no direct predecessor. Products in Oakville Assembly plant.

2016 Lincoln MKT – Design

In the beginning the vehicle design was based on the Lincoln MKR Concept and Lincoln MKS full-size luxury sedan models. However, MKT uses a completely different elements of the body. A large number of elements of the vehicle are made of stamped aluminum and magnesium. This trend will be retained and at 2016 Lincoln MKT. 2016 Lincoln MKT will keep driver units from the current model. Specifically, these engines are upgraded and offer better performance and better economy than the engine from competing models on the market. For example, the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine develops more power and lower fuel consumption compared to the 4.2-liter V8 FSI engine that drives the Audi Q7 quattro.

2016 Lincoln MKT will run the standard 3.7L Ti-VCT V6 engine, combined with a 6-speed SelectShift Automatic with paddle activation and Front-Wheel Drive (FWD). Engine power is 303 hp at 6,500 rpm, while the maximum torque of 278 lb.-ft. at 4,000 rpm and fuel consumption 17 city/25 hwy mpg. The second engine in the range is the 3.5-liter V6 twin-turbocharged, direct-injection engine coupled with a 6-speed SelectShift Automatic with paddle activation. A version with this engine is offered only with Intelligent All-Wheel Drive (AWD) and fuel consumption is 16 city/23 hwy mpg. The engine develops 365 hp at 5,500 rpm and 350 lb.-ft. at 1.500 to 5.250 rpm.


The fierce competition luxury full-size SUV with three-row, seven-passenger 2016 Lincoln MKT has to do his best. Its main competitors are the Acura MDX, Audi Q7, Mercedes-Benz R-Class and Infiniti QX60. The price of the new model should not exceed the price of the current model. This means that the version of the 100A Equipment Group cost around $ 43,000, while the version with Equipment Group 200A will cost about $ 45,000.
