2016 Subaru Outback is representative of the new, fifth generation of this model. Like all previous models, the new Outback is an excellent combination of passenger car and SUV. Novelty which the 2016 Subaru Outback brought to the European market, is a new eyesight technologies. It provides assistance to the driver while driving, and contributes to greater traffic safety.

The new Outback has received strong structure and a tighter body. This is achieved by using large amounts of high-quality, clad steel. The use of this material has reduced the overall weight of the vehicle. On the other hand, the 2016 Subaru Outback is tougher than its predecessor. This firmness is achieved at the front of the vehicle, and the rear end of the vehicle and the sides are also firmer. In addition, the bonnet has been designed that in the event of a collision, absorb the impact. The same is the case with space for the engine, and increased pedestrian protection in case of adverse events.

Safety and Security

In addition to the more rigid body, 2016 Subaru Outback is equipped with systems that enhance active and passive safety of vehicles and passengers. Thanks to these improvements, the vehicle was rated with a maximum 5-stars by the independent consumer protection agency Euro NCAP. The biggest impact of improvements in this segment, has EyeSight technologies. It is a system that uses stereo camera technology and warns of the presence of other vehicles, pedestrians or cyclists. Within this system, there are Pre-Collision Braking Control and Adaptive Cruise Control.

Pre-Collision Braking Control allows avoiding collision with another vehicle or object. Namely, at a vehicle speed of 50 km/h, this system triggers automatic braking and thus helps to avoid collisions or reduces damage if there is a collision. This is achieved thanks to a large extent visibility stereo camera, which activates the said system. This system is active (operational) operates at a speed of 10-200 km/h.

Adaptive Cruise Control allows the deceleration of the vehicle in accordance with the changing speed of the vehicle ahead. Stereo cameras have the ability to quickly register sudden changes in vehicle in front, behind or to the side. Cameras easily detect color and signal EyeSight system that recognizes the ignition light signaling the vehicle in front. That information is passed Adaptive Cruise Control system that slows down the vehicle. This system is operational when the vehicle is moving at speeds up to 180 km/h.

2016 Subaru Outback has improved body rigidity, the chassis is reinforced with a VDC, and has been based on the symmetrical AWD. All this together makes the vehicle extremely safe. 2016 Subaru Outback is the best equipped model for collision avoidance in its class.
