Still in 2013, Acura introduced the SUV X concept car at the Shanghai Auto Show. It was clear that is preparing a new crossover SUV model of the brand, which will be based on this concept. After the Honda company registered trademark “CDX” with the United States Patent and Trademark Office, things have become clearer. The 2017 Acura CDX is the name of a future compact crossover model of the brand. According to some announcements, it will appear on the market during 2017. For this reason, there is a possibility that the vehicle carries the same name, only with the 2018 prefix.
Even earlier was announced that Acura has a plan to offer a compact crossover model. Among other things, the company wants to create a vehicle that would be competitive to Audi Q3, BMW X1 and Mercedes GLA models. In particular, there is desire, that this vehicle be offer to premium customers. As the target market, the company cited China, where the other car manufacturers want to improve their sales results.
2017 Acura CDX Design
Like other models of the Acura brand, and the 2017 Acura CDX will be based on the model of Honda company. CDX will be based on the subcompact Honda CR-V crossover. Recall, HR-V is based on the Honda Fit hatchback model. With the new CDX model, Acura will become competitive in the segment, in which has not had an offer. The 2017 Acura CDX will be placed under the RDX and MDX models, Acura’s lineup.
It is not yet known the specifications of this model. According to some assumptions, Acura CDX crossover could possess four-cylinder 1.5-liter turbocharged engine.
