2014, at the International Motor Show in Beijing, the company unveiled the Audi TT Offroad concept. The company was determined to TT family, expand with new third member. With the introduction of this concept, the audience, are presented two concept versions of the TT model. In terms of the Shooting Brake, and TT Sportback concept. TT Offroad concept has attracted the most attention, and caused the most positive reviews. For this reason, it was decided that the third member of the TT family, to be a crossover SUV model. The serial version of the vehicle will be called 2017 Audi TTQ. Its production will begin in late 2016 or early 2017.
2017 Audi TTQ – Design and Specs
New Crossover SUV model, the Audi company will take its place next to Q3 model, and will be designed as a sports version Q3 model. Primarily, 2017 TTQ, was supposed to carry the name of the Audi Q4. However, Q2 and Q4 titles belonging to the Fiat-Chrysler Group to which this group has a patent. Audi did not want to give up the Q tag, which is used for its crossover SUV models, so the new model will carry the label TTQ.
2017 Audi TTQ will be based on the TT Offroad concept. This means that it will be placed on Volkswagen’s MQB platform. Dimensions of the concept are 4,390/1,850/1,530 mm (l/w/h), while the wheelbase is 2,630 mm. The new SUV, is a combination of coupe model with four doors and SUV models. The vehicle will have a sportier design and performance compared to Audi Q3 model. Something similar, propagated and BMW company, with its X3 and X4 SUV models.
About powertrain production version of the vehicle, there is no official statement from the company. It is assumed that the 2017 Audi TTQ be equipped with the same operating system as well as the TT Offroad concept. It is a plug-in hybrid propulsion system. The system is a combination of 2.0-liter TFSI petrol engine with 292 hp and 380 Nm, two electric motors and a lithium-ion battery. An electric motor has a power of 40 kW and 220 Nm, and the other 85 kW and 270 Nm, while the battery has a capacity of 12 kWh. The drive system is paired with a six-speed e-S tronic transmission with double clutch.
Until the production version and the start of sales, 2017 TTQ Audi model, there is still plenty of time. It is possible that there will be some changes in some areas. Also, as much as, Audi and FCA find a compromise, this new crossover SUV could take the name of the 2017 Audi Q4.
